Photo of The Day #58
One of my favorite events on my recent FAM tour to Thailand and Malaysia was visiting The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in Penang Malaysia. It is located in the Georgetown section of the city. The house was built in the 19th century and has wonderful brocade wood work along all the staircases and windows.
One aspect especially caught my eye and that was the myriad of mosaic structures above the doors and windows of the second story. They were more visible from the balcony overlooking the front yard and stone wall. This one particularly caught my attention with all its intricate detail and design.

Great picture!! I can’t wait to get to Malaysia. Another place on my bucket list…
Val,
I loved it. The food was fabulous and the people were more friendly than expected. Not quite as amicable as the Thai population, but open and will talk with you. Of course there are many, many attractions, especially in Kuala Lampur (Petronas Twin Towers, CNN Tower {great restaurant for lunch}, Batu Caves, Jadi Batik and the Royla Selangor Pewter Factory) but my favorite was the “Banjaran HotSprings Retreat and Spa”. It was a little slice of heaven! Thanks.

Amazing and extraordinary picture. I like it
Jeff,
Thank you sir. The Cheong Fatt Tze Blue House, in the Georgetown section of Penang Malaysia, is filled with all kinds of wonderful architecture, antiques and assorted pieces of art and furniture from the turn of last century (1900’s). We only had an hour and I could have spent days thoroughly investigating this house. These overhead pieces were fabulous and so intricate and ornate. I loved them! Thanks.
